Invest in a transformative theatrical experience starring Sir Ian McKellen, created by the visionary studio Tin Drum.
AN ARK is not just a performance—it’s a deeply personal exploration of the human condition, reimagined in Mixed Reality. Written by Tony Award-winner Simon Stephens and starring the legendary Sir Ian McKellen, the show invites viewers to reflect on their lives as they journey through love, loss, identity, and mortality. In an intimate setting, each audience member is seated alone while four virtual characters surround them—interacting, guiding, and speaking directly to them using Tin Drum’s proprietary MR tech. The result is a uniquely emotional and immersive experience that feels tailor-made for each individual.
Learn more about the minds and technology bringing AN ARK to life.
In an age dominated by screen fatigue and emotional disconnection, AN ARK offers something revolutionary: a Mixed Reality experience that’s neither isolating like VR nor passive like traditional theatre. Backed by Tin Drum’s global success with Kagami and designed for both live and home viewing (Apple Vision Pro, Meta, Google), AN ARK sets a new standard for future entertainment.
It’s like standing in a dream. A quietly astonishing technological feat that never loses its emotional pulse.
A profound meditation on life and death... Kagami blends the intimacy of live performance with the otherworldly potential of mixed reality.
Not just a concert, but a communion. Sakamoto appears not as a ghost, but as a guide.

Oh, we’re not! We have deep relationships with venues all over the world and we keep in touch with them pretty consistently as a matter of habit. Even the offer of starting with the Festival and following with the premiere of An Ark in New York happened not as a direct inquiry but rather through the course of catching up over coffee with the Director of the Shed.
With each show there is an exhibition strategy. For An Ark we expect to present the first two shows in New York and London and expand from there once programmers and Directors have had a chance to see it. This is actually an astonishing start for any new piece because even proven producers in traditional mediums can have a hard time getting new works accepted at first tier venues. It’s even harder for MR, which the public doesn’t understand that well. To be at the Shed and then Southbank Centre means the whole
performance world will be aware of us.
This depends upon the final agreement, but for the most part they will be operating without profit if we’re paying for the production. If they’re commissioning and putting any money up front that will come in exchange for a percentage.
Most performance spaces operate as not-for-profits, so while they can’t lose money (we must pay for services such as security, ticketing, etc out of the revenues from the show) they can’t make it either.
